Room Leader — Little Hearts House, Stansted

About the Role

The Room Leader at Stansted House plays a key role in creating a calm, nurturing and homely environment where children feel safe, valued and supported. You will lead the day-to-day practice within your room, ensuring high-quality care, small ratios, meaningful interactions and a child-centred approach that reflects the Little Hearts ethos.

This role is ideal for an experienced early years professional who is passionate about emotional security, connection and gentle teaching practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily running of the room, ensuring a calm, safe and nurturing environment

  • Role model high-quality interactions and responsive caregiving

  • Support children’s emotional wellbeing, routines and sense of belonging

  • Plan and deliver meaningful, play-based learning experiences

  • Maintain small-group practice and child-led learning approaches

  • Build trusted relationships with children and families

  • Supervise, mentor and support room staff and apprentices

  • Ensure safeguarding, health & safety and EYFS standards are consistently met

  • Contribute to observations, assessments and developmental planning

  • Promote Little Hearts values — connection, calmness and individuality

About You

  • Level 3 Early Years qualification (or above) — essential

  • Previous experience as a Room Leader or Senior Practitioner — desirable

  • Strong understanding of child development and emotional wellbeing

  • Calm, nurturing and reflective practice

  • Passion for small ratios and relationship-focused care

  • Confident in leading and supporting a small team

  • Committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice

Early Years Practitioner — Little Hearts House

Location: Stansted House / Little Hearts House Nursery
Position: Early Years Practitioner

About the Role

As an Early Years Practitioner at Little Hearts House, you will play an important role in providing warm, nurturing and high-quality care for children in our calm, home-from-home environment. Working as part of a small, supportive team, you will help create meaningful relationships, support children’s emotional wellbeing and contribute to our child-centred, small-ratio approach.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about gentle practice, connection and creating a safe, secure space where children feel valued and confident.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide warm, responsive and caring interactions throughout the day

  • Support children’s routines, emotional wellbeing and sense of belonging

  • Contribute to a calm, nurturing and hygienic room environment

  • Encourage child-led, play-based learning

  • Assist with observations, assessments and planning in line with the EYFS

  • Work collaboratively as part of a small team

  • Build positive relationships with families and carers

  • Follow safeguarding, health & safety and setting policies

  • Support inclusive practice and individual needs

About You

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification — essential
